In her downtown courtyard studio Beth creates contemporary one-of-a-kind glass beads, elegant jewelry and unique home accessories in the venerable Venetian tradition of lampworking, using a small torch, multi-hued glass rods and precious metals. Drawing from her skills as a studio metalsmith, her designs balance all the elements in her materials, resulting in luminous, functional pieces that the owner can wear with comfort and pleasure. Pure gold and silver granules accent the surface of Beth's pieces, reflecting her signature style that has been recognized in publications and exhibitions across the country. "The love of my craft and materials is what inspires me; the way that the colors in glass are transformed by light seems truly magical. The jewelry I make reflects this passion and is reflected from my gardens, the ocean, the marshes, and the ever-changing sky and light of Cape Ann. Handmade multi-colored flameworked glass beads, embellished with tiny 24 karat gold or pure silver granules, are etched to a soft satin finish and then are combined with contemporary fine metal beads and wirework to create classic pieces of understated elegance. The resulting work is very tactile and dimensional; it invites touching and is -above all- very wearable." |
